SUMMARY:NECA-IBEW LOCAL 649 - APPRENTICE APPLICATION AVAILABILITY
DESCRIPTION:Applications for the Inside Wireman and Electronic Systems Technician Apprenticeship Programs will be accepted on the following days: \nNovember 16-21\, 2026\nTime:\n4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Monday – Friday 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM Saturday\nLocation:\nLocal 649 JATC\n3941 Humbert Rd.\, Alton\, IL 62002 \nThe Inside Wireman Apprenticeship is a four-year program jointly sponsored by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). This Apprenticeship provides a minimum of 144 hours of evening classroom instruction per year and requires extensive use of mathematics plus 8\,000 hours of on-the-job training. \nThe Electronic Systems Technician Apprenticeship shall require the successful completion of 4\,800 on-the-job training hours and 160 hours of related coursework. \nApplicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED\, be at least 18 years old\, and show successful completion of one year (two semesters) of Algebra with a grade of “C” or higher on a transcript. \nIt is MANDATORY that a copy of your HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT\, EQUIVALENT GED\, OR POST SECONDARY SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT accompany your application (NO EXCEPTIONS). If applicable\, college transcripts or additional transcripts may also be submitted. \nA non-refundable $25 application fee is required upon application submission. Payment Accepted: Cash or Check made payable to NECA-IBEW Local 649 JATC \nWomen and members of minority groups are encouraged to apply. Pre-employment drug screening\, physical and background check\, and bootcamp/orientation completion after acceptance will be required.
